Stay Safe and Warm!
With winter storm warnings and temperatures well below zero across most of the U.S., I hope, wherever you are, that you are safe and warm.
If you have furbabies in your family, please take care to take them outside if they don’t know how to come in on their own (like Koki… he’ll stay out and alternately lift each front paw before he comes in). And maybe lay down an extra blanket, because floors can get quite drafty.
Ledger can’t really shake himself off very well, which is why I have a snow-covered picture of him and not Koki. Right after the pic, I dried him off with a towel 🙂
Here is Koki outside, very proud of himself for either finding a branch or actually pulling 
it off the tree. No idea which. But when the evergreen gets weighed down with snow and/or ice, the branches drop very low. Right after the pic, I brought Koki in and warmed him up–and left the branch outside. 🙂
Okay, here’s something we can do together… I love this action shot of Ledger. Send me your best caption for it. Meaning, use the picture, and write a caption over it. If I get enough captions, I’ll create a poll to see who has the best one. Maybe even a small prize, too!

B.J.’s Online Book Club Recap
We had a great Book Club discussion, which began with many questions about who knew what at what point. Many people commented on how the A-ha video showed both characters entering each other’s world, but “An Ornamental Christmas” did not. Sally also made the same comment in her review.
My original intention was to incorporate that double-merging. But in a visual medium, it’s much easier to get away with not explaining things. In the written form, it’s impossible. I quickly abandoned the idea in favor of only one character “crossing over” to better fit the explanation and to better “merge” with snow globe Christmas TV movie storylines.
My vivid memory of the video is the painful struggle the lead singer must go through to be with his love in the end. It’s such an iconic song and video. I’m proud of my use of it, and feel good that readers appreciated it… and recognized that it’s an unusual pairing.
They asked how I came up with it, but I don’t know. It just popped in my head as I was thinking of xmas possibilities. I, too, thought it was odd at first and tried to move on, but the idea was so strong that not only wouldn’t it let go, it forced itself to the top of the list–I was going to do a different xmas story last year!

Toymax’s Birthday Assignment
Last month was Max’s birthday, and I made posts for him in smedia with a challenge, should there be enough “marks” on the post. There were! And here is Max, with his written description of what he performed…
“Last weekend I completed a part of Mistress B.J.’s birthday task. Quote: ‘He will say “I am submissive” in conversation 25x’
It was rather difficult, as the word “submissive” rarely, if ever, appears in everyday language. Nevertheless, I managed to demonstrate my submissiveness through gestures and actions, and occasionally to talk about it. There were situations where this worked well and others where it was difficult. Therefore, with the generous permission of Mistress B.J., I used synonyms that made it seem more appropriate. All in all, it was a challenge for a submissive person to perform this task in the company of people who are not kinky or don’t think that way, without being overly obvious.
Another task was to spank myself 50 times and say, “Thank you, Mistress B.J.” which I did a few days ago.
I used a leather belt to spank myself 50 times – 25 on each buttock. As instructed, I thanked Mistress B.J. each time. It took me a while since I’m not used to it.Thank You, Mistress B.J., and thanks to all who helped Mistress B.J. for making my birthday present a special one.”

Warning… entering cuteness territory!
Koki has fully recovered from his surgery and is no longer bleeding on toys or friends! There was a two-week period where he lost a LOT of puppy teeth. I have many of them, because he would play with them in a weird way; almost like how they play with bugs? Nudging it with his nose, picking it up, spitting it out, and repeating.
I don’t have pictures of those because I was focused on retrieving the teeth. Here is one of him playing with his wreath. It’s funny how much he loves it, because it’s a nothing toy. It’s flat and has a hole and crinkles. Guess that’s enough. The really funny thing is that he gets caught up in it. Here’s one way, with his foot. But he also puts his nose through it and struggles it get it off. While he has tripped himself several times, he’s always figured a way out.
Speaking of toys… here you can see Koki in the middle of a bunch of new toys. But what’s in his mouth? It’s not a toy, as I thought for a long while as he happily played with it… but a long plant string that he brought in from outside. Once that was properly disposed of, Koki joyfully returned to playing with actual toys.
And let’s stay with toys. The boys got matching loofa-type toys, which you can see them playing with, side-by-side. Those toys are long gone, by the way. Koki determined they were highly dangerous and went into massive protection mode, killing them individually. Then, by removing each toy’s fluffy stuffing, he further ensured neither could hurt any human in the house. You can rest well, because I am amazingly protected!
Koki went to his first obedience class last week, and it was a horrendous disaster. After peeing outside (which was the only good thing), he barked his way into class, so that everyone knew his name immediately. The instructor said he could go off-leash and the handlers would take care of him. Well, he ran around the area, barking the entire time, went up to personally meet each student, refused to listen, then peed AND pooped! I was so proud. *heavy sigh* I told everyone that we are going for “most improved”.
To be fair, it’s the same place he goes to puppy daycare–which he had been banned from because of the bleeding. After we moved across the room *and* barriers were put up, he was able to demonstrate what he learned at home-school.
This week he did not pee or poop, nor did he bark when he ran around the room before the start of class. Also, he didn’t need the barriers; only a little bit of redirection to get him focused on showing off his homework. This time I was really proud of him! And it was his first day back at daycare, so he had a full day.
We practice at home, where Ledger is happy to run interference in the form of demanding treats and getting in Koki’s path. My girls have made noise and tried to distract him during homework, as well as Claire. It helps to make him a better student.

It’s not surprising Eli got more rave reviews, it’s a fantastic series and one I wouldn’t mind reading for a 5th or 6th time now. [That makes Jessie and I so happy to hear!]
AI has its benefits but far too often it is misused and over-implemented. I remember a few years back thinking they’re too quick to rush this and we’ve gotten AI encouraging suicide, AI rendering sexual images of people of all ages, and studies trying to figure out if AI harms our brains due to over reliance. It’s only been a few years and AI is advancing at a tremendous rate. It’s worrying for sure. [I hear there’s an app you can download (at least on Apple) to remove the first AI responses to searches–worth a look!]
